Name Sarah Baker HAMBLING Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Dec Q 1846 Totnes, Devon, England - GRO ref: Hambling, Sarah Baker q4 1846 Totnes RD 9 510
Gender Female Education Scholar 1851 Occupation Milliner etc. 1861 Occupation Parlour maid 1871 23, Sussex Gardens, Paddington, London, England - Living in
Residence 1881 Clavershay Barton, North Petherton, Somerset, England Occupation 1891 Whitehorse, Over Stowey, Somerset, England Died Dec Q 1892 Bridgwater Reg Dist, Somerset, England - GRO ref: Hill, Sarah, q4 1892 aged 46 Bridgwater RD 5c 223
The censuses indicate that Sarah died between 1891 and 1901 (her husband was shown as a widower in 1901). Her husband was at the same address in Over Stowey, in Bridgwater RD, in both census years so that would seem to be where she died, plus this Sarah Hill is the right age, only one other in Somerset in this period was, and she died in Wellington RD, some miles from Over Stowey.
Notes - Aged about 9 when her mother died, 15 when her father died, the last of her 8 siblings died when Sarah was just 21. And they hadn't died as so many then did as babies, but the youngest aged 2 and the others at ages ranging between 13 and 24, so old enough for Sarah to have had a real relationship with. Only her brother Charles had married, but Sarah's only sister-in-law (prior to her marriage) followed her husband to the grave 3 years after him, when Sarah was 23.
Her grandparents survived rather better, but 2 lived in London so it was unlikely she enjoyed a close relationship with them.
