Name William Deal CHARROSIN Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1783 - From age at death, as recorded in burial register
Baptised Between 5 Jan 1783 and 20 Nov 1785 All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England - Entry in register reads
"William Deal, Son of David & Amy Charrosin was baptized sometime between Janry. 5th. 1783, & Novr. 20th. 1785. but, by some Mistake not registered.
T. Johnson.
David Charrosin, the Father of the Infant swore to the Truth of the above.
T.J."
The dates given are those that the previous child and next child of David and Amy were baptised; they must have just remembered it was somewhere between the two. The note is below one made by Thomas Johnson (who was Curate of Whitstable) on 21 Oct 1790, so it looks like it was after this.
Gender Male Occupation 1810 Whitstable, Kent, England - In 1810 William made a petition to the Corporation of Free Fishers and Dredgers of Whitstable for admission to the freedom of the Company.
This is in Canterbury Cathedral Archives, CCA-U372/X/188; the catalogue entry show that William Charisson was the son of David Charrison, freeman.
The David who was admited to the Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company in 1888 (CCA-U372/X/209/51) was probably a descendant of this William.
Occupation From 1814 to 1824 Whitstable, Kent, England Seaman - Seaman or mariner at time of baptism of children
Died Mar Q 1846 Blean Reg Dist, Kent, England - GRO ref: Charrosin, William q1 1846 Blean RD 5 26; GRO online index shows age at death as 62
Buried 5 Mar 1846 All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England [1] - On National Burial Index, age 62 (surname spelt Charroxen)
Siblings 2 brothers and 3 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch Vincent CHARROSIN, d. Bef 1597 (6 x Great Grandfather)
Amy DEAL, bur. 16 Oct 1788, All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England (Mother)Notes - I am guessing that Wm is a son of David and Amy. And since making this guess based on where the family lived the petition to be a freeman of the fisheries adds weight.
