Gender Male Residence 1864 Bedford Bridge, Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England - The family was living in Bedford Bridge Cottages when his fsister Hannah was born in 1864, his father, Samuel, at that time was a "mine labourer". Bedford Bridge is about half a mile north of Horrabridge, a couple of miles from Buckland Monachorum village; the main industry in Horrabridge was copper and tin mining.
Residence 1870 Clearbrook, Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England - His sister Mary Ann's birth certificate shows that the family were living in Clearbrook where his father, Samuel, was working as a farm labourer. Clearbrook is a hamlet someway from Buckland Monachorum village, though in the Parish. The hamlet is believed to have become established due to mining in the 1850s, and mining was the main source of employment. Samuel may have worked both on the land and in the mine according to the season.

Died Yes, date unknown Notes - living with parents, 1881. With wife and dau in 1 rm in 9, Hodgson Buildings, Monkwearmouth Shore, Sunderland (1891) (one couple in another 2 rms, and a family in another 2 rms in the same building). In Kyo parish, in 2 rooms of 12 South View, Annfield Plain, in 1901 with wife, 2 children and "nephew & nephew's wife" (appear to be wife's relations as all from North Wales). (another family in the other 3 rooms in the house)
Living in 3 room house, 29B Maple Street, South Moor, Stanley, Co. Durham in 1911 with wife, 2 children and a boarder. By this time William and Miriam had had 6 children but only 3 were living.
