Military Service Royal Navy 4 Mar 1918 to 19 Mar 1919 - Service records available from the National Archives (I have copy)
Emigrated 1922 Canada Middle name relationship After whom given / reason unknown - unless a clue as to his biological maternal grandfather? - Not found as a family surname on paternal side (ancestry known extensively). Not found on the maternal side, but only known to his grandparents. If it had been from the maternal side we might have expected to find it amongst the siblings of his mother, but it is not. There is a strange situation on the maternal side though: George's mother, Emma, was, like most of her siblings, born illegitimate, and her name changed from 'Emma BEAL' to 'Emma Beal HALL' after her mother married Robert HALL. In Emma's case this was 16 years after her birth. Was her true father a WALKER (maybe even 'George WALKER'?).
Died 19 Jul 1951 - Date from his great granddaughter
Buried Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada Notes - With parents (1901) - only child still at home. His wife and dau were with his parents in 1911 but he wasn't - he had travelled ahead to Canada. His wife and oldest dau, Evelyn, followed in May that year, but the family returned to England in 1914 for George to join the army. Surviving the war, and having 2 more children (born 1916 and 1920) George and his wife and 3 children left 57 Park Road, Faversham to travel on board the Antonia, setting sail from Southampton, bound for Quebec. They left on 20th July 1922.
