    • I understand of Woodchurch when she married. However, there were no baptisms of a Dorothy between 1611 when KFHS transcripts start and the baptism of the Dorothy I believe was the granddaughter of this one (gap 1641-61).

    Married
    • When Dorothy was granted admon. for Thomas Becon her son William also was, as was a Nathaniel White.
As Dorothy was a White when she married Thomas it seems likely it was a relation of hers. But how was he related?
In 1650 a Nathaniel White had been baptised in Waltham, i.e. where Thomas Becon grew up, son of Thomas and Dorothy White.
There were no subsequent children of this marriage, and a Mr Thomas White was buried in Waltham in 1650/1, suggesting that it was the father of Nathaniel who had died. There were no children of the marriage prior to Nathaniel, suggesting the widow Dorothy was likely to have been quite young.
Later in 1651 a Dorothy White married Thomas Becon of Waltham. I believe it was Dorothy, widow of Thomas White, who married Thomas Becon, and thus Nathaniel who was granted admon. was Thomas Becon's stepson.

The use of Mr when Thomas White was buried shows he was a gent, as was Thomas Becon's father, and so Dorothy was probably of a similar social standing to Thomas Becon, making such a marriage more likely.

Looking at indexes on FMP, and at Tyler's notebooks on Ancestry, at Family Search, all on 4 Oct 2014, there is no sign of marriage of Thomas White and Dorothy so I don't know her maiden name. (If I did there might be a clue in wills of her family, e.g. bequest to her as Dorothy Becon or Nathaniel as Thomas Becon's step son)

    • I haven't seen the PR entry for myself, and am not aware that it shows Dorothy as a widow but that was normal at the time; often the only clear evidence is the marriage licence.
However, I do think she was probably only a White by marriage, and previously the wife of Thomas WHITE. See notes on that marriage for more thought.
