Education From 6 Aug 1644 Queens' College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England Occupation From 1650 Boughton under Blean, Kent, England Minister - During the time when the Long Parliament removed Bishops and took actions leading to the replacing of some clergy by non-conformist ministers, the Vicar was sequestrated and over the following years (1640/1 to 1660) a number of ministers appointed. "Mr. Hercules Hill [sic]" was appointed in 1650, shown in the "Augmentation of Church Lands".
(from the preface to The Registers of Boughton-under-Blean, Boodle, 1903)
Despite the slight name variation (Hill instead of HIlls) I think it was this Hercules, due to his having been to University. Many (most?) University graduates became clergy; it Hercules tended to the non-conformist viewpoint it would be not surprising to find him 'intruded'.
I assume he remained until another was appointed in 1655, though the previous listed was buried in 1648.
After 3 burials only recorded in 1642, there is then just the one in 1648, 2 in 1649, and no more until November 1653. Perhaps Hercules had died by then.
Died Bef 1658 - Not mentioned in his father's will suggesting he had died by then. I suspect he had died by 1653, when a gap in the burial register ends.
