Not with his mother and maternal grandparents in the 1841 census, but with his mother and her new husband in 1851, recorded with his step-father's surname, Wooldridge.
I can't find him in England Wales censues after 1851, by either name, nor a marriage or death for him in England or Wales.
Could he have been the Matthew Gotham who arrived in the US in 1854, giving an age of 22?
No further evidence of him in the USA - is this because he quickly died, OR returned to England OR there was an error in the name and he was not a Gotham? Or, if it was this Matthew, did he subsequently go by the surname Wooldridge? (I have not investigated this latter possibility)
