Robert BROWN

-
Name Robert BROWN Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1786 Baptised 19 Apr 1786 St. Alban’s Church, Earsdon, Northumberland, England - From transcribed data (by Northumberland & Durham FHS, on FMP, 10 Apr 2019)
Shown as Robert Brown, son of Robert and Catharine, resident South Blyth, father a blacksmith.
Also from BT entry (image on FamilySearch) shows:
"Robert S of Robt & Catherine Brown Blacksmith of So. Blyth [April] 19th."
Gender Male Occupation Abt 1825 Iron Works, Bridport, Dorset, England Blacksmith Residence Abt 1827 Bristol, Gloucestershire, England - A newspaper notice looking for him in 1827 refers to him being lately being known to be in Bristol.
Occupation Blyth, Earsdon, Northumberland, England Blacksmith Occupation Ship Smith - Given as his occupation on his widow's death certificate. According to this Wikipedia article the use of iron instead of wood as the primary material used for ships' hulls began in the 1830s. As a blacksmith I guess it may have been this change of material that led to Robert moving from traditional blacksmith work to being a ship smith.
Died Bef 1851 - What became of Robert?
There is no obvious burial in Dorset (in the CMB for Dorset parishes on Ancestry; a Robert of the right age buried in Loders in 1863 can be ruled out from the census entry for that Robert in 1861 - a locally born farmer). Did he stay in Dorset, move on or return to Northumberland? If he didn't return 'home' with such a common name it is almost impossible to trace him unless a census entry in 1851 or later can be found, with a birthplace of Blyth or Earsdon.
If his wife's death certificate is correct in describing her as a widow then he died in or before 1858; if her entry in the 1851 census is correct he had died by then.
Given his age he probably had, but given his whereabouts was not at times in the 1820s known it is possible these were just guesses.
