    Gender Female
    Education
    • It would appear that Mary had little eduction - whilst her husband signed the register when they married Mary just made her mark, as did her sister Anne who was a witness (I assume it was her sister who was the Anne Burgoin)

    • Living in Dartmouth by 1788, still living there when she died.
    Died Between 1788 and 1823
    • Left a bequest by her aunt (by marriage) Jane Bellamy nee Harris in a will written 23 Sep 1788 ;
      not mentioned in her husband's will, I'm sure she must have been dead by the time he wrote it.
    Buried 16 Nov 1814  St. Michael’s Church, Blackawton, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 21 Jun 2015)"Mary Rider, abode Dartmouth, buried November the 16th, aged 58, ceremony performed by S L Adams" - under heading 'Burials ... Blackauton ... 1814'

      Mary was living in Dartmouth by 1788, but her husband was buried (after her) in Blackawton, so it is probable she had been too. This burial is a good fit as it is of a Mary of the right age and abode Dartmouth.

      (A Mary Ann Rider was buried in Dartmouth in 1800 but the PR shows she was a child and so not this Mary Ann.)

      Given that Mary's father and husband were both tailors it is quite likely that Mary and Nicholas met because he was apprenticed to her father.
