Name William BURGOIN Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 9 Jun 1747 St. Michael’s Church, Blackawton, Devon, England [1] Gender Male Died Yes, date unknown Buried - Could be the William Burgoyne who was buried in Stoke Fleming in 1802 aged 54, but that was more likely the William Burgoin who was baptised there in Nov 1747.
IF he was the William Burgoyne who married in Kingsbridge in 1775 then he was buried there in 1829.

Married - Was it this William who was the 'William Burgin of Blackawton' who married Martha Randle in Kingsbridge in 1775?His age was shown as 84 when he died in May 1829, if accurate meaning he was born in 1744 or 5.
The William whose baptism best fits with this was baptised on 21 May 1745. But an infant William Burgoine was buried in Blackawton on 1 July 1745. It seems most likely that the burial was of that William, and when taken together with the fact that the same couple gave the name William to another son in 1748 almost certain, that the burial in 1745 was of the William baptized in 1745.
This leaves this William as the one closest in age to the 84 shown in the burial register; he would actually have been 81 or 82. However, just 9 months later another William was baptized in Blackawton so it is not safe to assume it was this William without further information.
One thing against this William is that the signature of the groom at the Kingsbridge marriage is not the same as the William Burgoine who was a witness to the marriage of the sister, Sarah, of this William, but Sarah's wedding may have been witnessed by her father William.
The other William, the one baptised in 1748, had a number of siblings - perhaps the signature matches a witness at the marriage of one of them?
Or are there any wills that would show which William was in Kingsbridge?
However, whilst I may not have prove that the William who married in Kingsbridge was this one, it is worth noting that Andrew, the son of that William, was a tailor. It seems likely that this William would have followed in his father's footsteps as a tailor, and so I think it probably was this William who married Martha Randell.
