    • From the 1851 census where shown as aged 7. This and other census and other records suggest this Thomas was born in Faversham around 1844.
      There were several Thomases born around the same time in Faversham RD - 1844, 1846 and 1847 at least.
      The 'best fit' is clearly the 1844 birth, and the GRO online index shows the mother's maiden name as Bridges. Looking for a marriage of an Inge to a Bridges leads to James Inge married to Mary Alice Bridges; James died in 1852 and 'Alice' remarried to James Powditch - which would explain the choice of middle name given to this Thomas's son, and thus strongly suggesting that this Thomas was the son of James and 'Alice'.
