    Gender Male
Residence From 1841 to 1851  Nattor, Sheepstor, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • Walter and his wife were living with his parents, both Walter and his father being shown as farmers but his father being head of the household in 1841. By 1851 Walter had become head of the household, although his father, now a widower, was still living there and apart from the loss of Walter's mother the household was otherwise the same.
Occupation From 1841 to 1851  Nattor, Sheepstor, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Farmer
    • In 1851 Walter was shown as a farmer of 64 acres.
In 1841 his father was also shown as a farmer, but not surprisingly, given that he was by then aged 88, no occupation was given for his father in 1851. However, his nephew and niece, i.e.  his brother Richard's children Harriot and Walter, probably of limited use on the farm in 1841, were described as a 'Farm Servant' and 'Farm Labrour' respecitvely in 1851.
Occupation 1861  Lovaton, Meavy, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Farmer
    • By 1861 Walter appears to have been farming without any assistance other than his wife, but now they had moved and were only farming 11 acres.
Occupation 1871  Bellaford, Meavy, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Farm labourer
    • I assume Walter was working near where he was living.
The adjacent census entry was a farm at Bellaford, but as it was only 36 acres and had a 55 year old farmer as well as his 29 year old son, and both their wives, all living there, there may not have been enough work for a labourer as well.
Died Dec Q 1871  Tavistock Reg Dist, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
